Can I include my spouse’s income?
Yes, spouses’ and registered partners’ incomes are combined for the RWR+ Card application
Combined Income for Couples
Yes, you can include your spouse’s or registered partner’s income if:
- You are legally married or in a registered partnership
- You live together in the same household in Austria
- Both incomes are properly documented
Income Sources That Count
- Both spouses’ employment earnings
- Self-employment income from either spouse
- Unemployment benefits
- Pension payments
- Regular transfers from a spouse living abroad
Required Documentation
To prove combined income:
- Both spouses’ pay slips
- Employment contracts
- Proof of self-employed income (bills, income tax statement etc.)
- Bank statements showing regular transfers
- Tax assessment notices
- Marriage or partnership certificate
Important Considerations
- The combined income requirement (€2,009.85 in 2025) is less than twice the single person requirement
- Adult applicants must still fulfill the 12-month work requirement individually
- If only one spouse meets all requirements, that person can apply first. Their income can still count to the family income once the second person applies.
